Practice Guidelines
The NMRE supports the use of practice guidelines that are evidence based and widely acceptable. The NMRE’s practice guidelines comprise of the American Psychiatric Association (APA) practice guidelines, other practice guidelines reviewed and made available by the APA (e.g., VA/DoD, ASAM, American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry - AACAP), MDHHS practice guidelines and region-specific practice guidelines.
The APA practice guidelines provide evidence-based recommendations for the assessment and treatment of psychiatric disorders and are intended to assist in clinical decision making by presenting systematically developed patient care strategies in a standardized format.
